ISTDP Psychotherapist
What is ISTDP?
Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, or ISTDP, is a revolutionary approach to psychotherapy that aims to offer rapid relief from suffering, reduction of symptoms, and long term change for your difficulties.
The approach was developed following extensive research which concluded that talk therapy and therapeutic approaches that focus on insight alone, were not able to create lasting change and symptom relief of a person's issues.
What is different about ISTDP?
ISTDP is a very purposeful and precise approach to therapy.
What this means is that an accurate understanding is built up of how your difficulties have occurred and maintained followed by taking specific steps taken to alleviate those difficulties.
Although the approach relies on a systematic, organised and precise method to overcoming difficulties, it is not a 'one size fits all approach'.
Instead the therapy is tailored to each individual's specific difficulties and aims for therapy.
What to expect from an ISTDP therapy
ISTDP is a hugely engaged and interactive form of therapy. As an ISTDP therapist I am highly present in the process and will provide immediate and continual feedback to you throughout the process to help you make better sense of the steps needed to take to alleviate you of your concerns.
This kind of collaboration between myself and my clients is essential in overcoming the inevitable blocks that are creating a persons difficulties, many such blocks happen so automatically that a person is not even aware they are occurring.
What can ISTDP help with?
